Sustainability Reporting Development

Your company may already be operating as a responsible corporate citizen but may not have the internal resources or sustainability-specific knowledge to articulate your impact in a cohesive, compelling way. While over 90% of publicly traded companies now produce some form of sustainability report, small and midsize enterprises often overlook the strategic value these reports offer.

A well-crafted sustainability report:

  • Reinforces accountability to employees, clients and other stakeholders
  • Provides a holistic view of how your organization operates across environmental, social and governance areas
  • Positions your company for long-term resilience and viability

Weaver can help you uncover meaningful stories and data within your sustainability program — starting with your materiality assessment and evolving through roadmap development and execution phases. These insights are transformed into a report that builds transparency, trust and differentiation in the market.

Our support focuses on developing a corporate sustainability report that highlights achievements across key pillars and shows how your organization is structured for long-term success and responsible leadership. Whether your goals are to inform stakeholders, reinforce brand reputation or respond to investor interest, we ensure the report aligns with widely adopted reporting standards including the GRI, SASB and the evolving International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), (formerly the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)).

We take the same rigorous approach to sustainability reporting as we do with financial reporting, emphasizing:

  • Consistency
  • Accuracy
  • Traceability
  • Documentation that stands up to scrutiny

Your Weaver team doesn’t just report data — we help tell the story of your sustainability journey in a way that supports your organizational values and positions your business as a forward-looking and resilient business — accountable in how you navigate risk, adapt to market expectations and shape your organization for long-term growth.

Physical Climate Risk Assessment

Understanding how climate change may impact your business is essential for long-term planning and risk management. Our physical and transition climate risk assessments integrate both acute and chronic climate-related hazards with market, policy, legal, reputational and technological transition risks. This combined approach provides a complete picture of your exposure and opportunity across the short-, medium- and long-term horizons.

We begin with a desktop analysis of your company’s physical footprint — offices, assets and operational hubs — assessing risk from natural hazards such as wildfire, extreme heat, drought, flooding and storm events. These risks are growing in frequency and intensity, driving up insurance premiums and influencing emerging legislation, disclosure rules and trade-related policies. They go beyond weather, intersecting with capital planning, investor confidence and operational continuity.

Once risks are identified, we select the most appropriate climate scenarios using frameworks such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and apply peer benchmarking to ensure relevance within your industry. At Weaver, we don’t just hand you a list of climate-related risks — we translate those insights and strategic recommendations to help close the resilience gap.

Unlike generic models, our approach is tailored to your organization’s specific operating context. We consider adaptation and resilience measures already in place and align with the TCFD framework to capture material transition risks, which are critical for creating a credible, actionable roadmap. Without this layer of analysis, a physical risk evaluation is incomplete.

We work closely with climate models and integrate the latest scientific guidance with practical industry applications. Our assessments help you identify where your business is most vulnerable and provide a roadmap for integrating climate risk into enterprise risk management and long-term corporate strategy.

Regulatory Reporting

As sustainability regulations continue to evolve, companies face growing pressure to report climate and emissions data in a structured, auditable format. While regulatory expectations in the U.S. remain fragmented, state-level and sector-specific rules are advancing quickly, and a large number of companies are expected to fall under future disclosure requirements.

We provide support to meet both current and emerging mandates, including:

These laws cover a wide range of requirements — from emissions reporting and climate risk analysis to energy benchmarking and supply chain transparency.

Our team helps you navigate the complexity with a focus on delivering audit-ready data. We align internal reporting systems with regulatory frameworks and ensure that submissions can withstand third-party scrutiny — whether you’re reporting to government entities, compliance partners or downstream customers.

We don’t simply translate your sustainability data into regulatory language. We also build your capabilities to perform at the level these new laws demand, integrating policy awareness with practical execution, enabling you to act with clarity and confidence as the regulatory landscape continues to shift.

Mandatory Contractual Reporting

Many companies now face sustainability reporting obligations not only from regulators but also through contractual requirements from their customers and partners. Large enterprises such as Microsoft, Walmart and Target are increasingly requiring their suppliers to report sustainability data, either directly or through third-party platforms like the CDP (formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project).

Major corporations have implemented formal sustainability expectations for their suppliers, including:

  • Microsoft: Requires suppliers to disclose Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions through its Procurement Sustainability Assurance Guidance and report through CDP to maintain eligibility.
  • Walmart: Operates Project Gigaton, a supplier engagement program focused on collective greenhouse gas reductions through actionable supply chain improvements, which is part of Walmart’s supplier sustainability criteria and sourcing protocols.
  • Target: Requires vendors to participate in its Target Forward Supplier Engagement Program, which outlines sustainability expectations for vendors as part of the company’s broader responsible sourcing strategy. This includes providing sustainability data and participating in platforms used to manage sustainability performance across its value chain.

These requirements often go beyond general sustainability messaging. They may require detailed disclosures on emissions, climate risk, labor practices and other sustainability metrics. Expectations vary by partner and industry, and meeting these requirements is essential for maintaining supplier status, winning new business and avoiding disruptions.

Weaver helps clients meet contractual sustainability obligations with audit-ready data and tailored reporting support. Whether it’s aligning disclosures with a customer’s code of conduct, entering data into a required platform or providing emissions breakdowns that meet Scope 3 supplier expectations, we bring clarity to what needs to be delivered and how to deliver it.

By understanding and integrating the specific sustainability expectations of your key partners into your reporting practices, you can strengthen business relationships and respond competitively in procurement and request for proposal (RFP) processes where sustainability has become a defining criterion.

Sustainability Communications

Beyond the formal corporate sustainability report, many organizations need targeted, high-quality sustainability communications that speak to a variety of audiences across multiple channels. We support companies in creating the right materials to meet the moment — whether that means:

  • Preparing board-ready content
  • Updating investor decks with sustainability highlights
  • Developing client-facing messaging that clearly conveys sustainability commitments

Sustainability communications aren’t limited to external reporting. Many organizations need internal engagement tools to bring sustainability to life across the business. We help create sustainability newsletters and education campaigns, Earth Day programming and cultural initiatives that reinforce values and encourage participation. Weaver also supports you with promoting your sustainability milestones like achieving net zero targets or earning sustainability-related certifications through social media, press materials, internal announcements and more.

We ensure every communication aligns with your organization’s voice and tone, tailoring messages to each audience. From technical data summaries for the boardroom to accessible infographics for employee engagement, our goal is to amplify your sustainability efforts with communications that are strategic, compelling and rooted in the substance of your program.
